The Grand Illusions SS19 collection is now available online, with more than 150 new homeware items available. I’ve already added a few items to my own home (see below) and here I’ve included my edit of additional pieces I love.
Beautiful chalk-based paints
I was first introduced to Grand Illusions towards the end of last year when I attended a workshop they hosted in London. During the workshop I learnt a variety of paint techniques using the brands own chalk-based Vintage Paint. I’ve since used the techniques on a couple of Grand Illusions picture frames for Molly’s room and the vintage washstand I revamped for our new loft bathroom. It was also a great opportunity to get to know the brand and its founders, Nick and David.
Natural materials, rustic vintage style
As well as paint, Grand lllusions also sell beautiful curated homewares and furniture, from dining tables and chairs, to vase and textiles. French country style, with hints of Scandinavia and further afield, the collection has a beautiful rustic-artisan feel. Expect plenty of natural materials and a neutral colour palette of linens and greys.
The perfect destination for those who love the rustic vintage style, there are also plenty of items in the new collection that would work in even the most modern and minimalist homes.
The SS19 collection in my home
At mine, I’ve gone for a pair of seagrass baskets. I’ve wanted some for ages as they’re so handy and versatile. They’re only £30.95 for the pair so good value too. The smaller is now home to our latest houseplant and thanks to the handles, makes it super easy to move when cleaning or general faffing.
Did you know soaps are having a revival? Apparently so. Through efforts to cut plastic usage, consumers are turning back to soap bars typically wrapped in paper. Grand Illusions now offer a selection of beautifully-smelly French handmade soaps, made using traditional Marseille recipes. I’ve gone for the Fleur d’Oranger – purely for the colour as it matches the shade of pink we’ve used in our new loft bathroom!
The other item I couldn’t resist was this jute pot hanger. I had a potted plant crying out for and it fits perfectly. Although it won’t live here forever, it’s the perfect length to hang off a door handle. Maybe I’ll start a new trend!
